You can help the volunteers here in the forums out considerably if you link you username to your wordpress.COM blog as outlined here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-make-your-name-link-to-your-blog?replies=54 .

Hi thank you thank you!
Yes, my blog is: http://washingtonsquarepark.wordpress.com
the URL of the YouTube video is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVgVUmOJ7T0
(p.s. did not know about the linking – will do so!)
-
I just posted it in one of my test blogs without a problem.
With the post or page you want to post it in open, place the cursor where you want the video to appear. The click the add video button, and paste the URL you have above into the “URL” field and then click “insert into post(page). Save the page, and then click on the preview button. It may take a few seconds or so for it to load and appear.

In the HTML section of your editor you’ll need to post the short cut like
this [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVgVUmOJ7T0]If you post this short cut in the visual editor section the video won’t
show up…Teck

If you use the add video button in the visual editor, it places the shortcode into the visual editor, and lately that has been working just fine for me.

Thanks … Okay, so, I did all of what sacred path said using the embed code and that did not work – previously. I did not as teck07 suggests use the “short cut” … should i be using the ‘short cut’ code? thanks. (I did the suggested way – using full embed code – a few times before writing here… just nothing showed up… _ thanks.)

The full embed code is stripped down to the short cut format
like the example I provided above.Teck

I just tried this with the “add video” method…it works fine…typing the short code did not though…

Open the HTML tab, and paste the code below into it.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVgVUmOJ7T0]That is exactly what was produced for me by going to “add video” and pasting the youtube URL into the URL box. It shows on my text blog. If the above code does not show on your blog, then there is something else wrong.
Do you have the latest flash player installed in your browser? http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

yeah if you manually past into the visual editor
thats why I use the insert video button and past the
URL of the video and the editor converts it to the
short cut code…Image Reference Screen shot 1/Screen shot 2

My above comment is in reference to Rain’s, comment
and the screen shots are for the OP,Ah, but if you put it in the visual editor won't it get entirely wiped out? -
Don’t paste the code, click on the “add video” button by the media buttons, paste the URL in there, and click “insert into post”. It does put it into the visual editor, by like I said it’s been working great. I don’t know what would happen if you pasted the embed code into the “add video” window. My feeling is, why rely on wordpress to strip out the embed stuff and leave the URL only? The URL is what it wants, and that is what I give it.

I always just type the shortcode into the visual editor. It never fails, but if I ever move off WP.com I’m gonna have a SNOTLOAD of editing to do.
