Header acknowledgment and maybe quotations–use Text Widget?

I’d like to acknowledge the source of my header art somewhere–is there a traditional place to do this? Would this be something you’d use the text widget for, and if so, could someone point me to a guide to getting the text in the proper position?
Possibly related, I just read a great tweet from someone today (“Cutting libraries in a recession is like cutting hospitals in a plague.”) and I’m toying with the idea of putting a quote like that on the front page, maybe a couple of them or maybe in an occasional rotation. Would that also, possibly, be a text-widget thing, or is there a better way to do it?
Um, yes, I am aware that I could do wonders for my blog by actually adding content more recent than six months. I’m working on that too. :-) Meanwhile it’s so much more fun to play with the bells and whistles. Thanks in advance for any ideas. (For these bells-and-whistles questions, I hasten to add; I’m not asking you to supply content too!)

If you aren’t into coding the simple way is to create a draft post and then switch to the HTML editor and copy the content. Then paste them into a text widget. Detailed instructions here > Text Links in Posts, Pages and Text Widgets
