Header and all customisations gone!
-
@ilissafrica — Your header image and background color should be ok now; let me know if you’re having any further trouble.
@essexmdo — Your header image and background color are back, but you may need to adjust your other custom colors. Please let me know if you continue to have trouble with that.
@mannerofspeaking — Can you please try resetting that background color now? Let me know if you still have trouble with that.

@rachelmcr: wonderful, thanks a lot! In this case “Happiness” has be (Re-)”Engineered” in reality ;-)

@rachelmcr Thx for the header / color tip, those problems are solved now.
And for the menu-problem, I also found the cause: in the TwentyTwelve theme, under Apprearance – Menus – Manage Locations the Primary menu was reset to ‘-Select a menu-‘ which caused my pages to be menu items (instead of the custom menu I had created).

@littlefighterscancertrust — Your background color is now fixed.
@hnk65 — Can you describe what’s wrong with your site at http://tarifaturismo.com/? That will help me make sure it’s fixed.
@axunarts — The background image is working again on axunarts.wordpress.com.

Hello @rachelmcr – Yes, my wife’s background colour has now been reset. Many thanks for whatever you did.
Everyone, unpleasant as experiences such as these are, they do happen. And in 5+ years of working with WordPress, they have always been sorted out. My scariest moment occurred a few years ago when my entire blog was shut down. It took a few hours, but after writing to WP, it was back up and running. Not ideal but these things happen with technology.
The only time I was ever unimpressed with WP was with an issue involving infinite scrolling when one reached the bottom of the blog. That caused a bit of a maelstrom as it made footers irrelevant (you never got to them because more old posts loaded). But even there, WP eventually did the right thing and made the feature optional.
All in all, I find we get exceptional value for a small (or no) price. When these things happen, patience and a few deep breaths work wonders.

@ilricciocornoschiattoso — Please open your site’s Customizer, open the “Colors & Backgrounds” section, and click the link “exit the preview” at the top of that section. Then, you can go back and reset your custom background image.
If that doesn’t work for you, please let me know what background image you are trying to set there and I can another look at it for you.
@berryduchess — If you are having trouble adding photos as custom header or background images, please give a link to the site where you are having trouble and explain what photos you are trying to use there. If you are having trouble with photos elsewhere on your site, that’s a different issue — in that case, please start a new forum thread with your question. Thanks!
@tofflan — Your background image is back now.

Hi, I’ve managed to reinstate my header but the custom background won’t load. It’s saying this feature is part of the premium plan? I’m running the Adelle theme and the blog I need help with is
http://betweenthelinesbookblog.wordpress.comThank you

Hello, I am also having a problem with my menu. The site is http://www.ActressJordanRice.com
The RESUME page should be the parent page for several others and none of these is showing up. The RESUME page itself is showing (which I don’t want). Was working fine yesterday. I’d appreciate your help! -

I went in just now and my header and menus are responding to customization again. PHEW!
@rachelmcr thank you for your help in fixing this quickly!

@betweenthelinesbookblog — You don’t need to upgrade to Premium to change your site’s background. However, right now you are previewing the Custom Design features on your site — you will need to exit that preview before you can save changes to your site’s background.
Anyone who is running into that problem can follow these steps to exit that preview and save their custom background:
- Open your site’s Customizer
- Open the section called “Colors & Backgrounds”
- At the top of that section, look for the text “This feature is a part of the Premium Plan. Purchase to make it live or exit the preview.”
- Click on “exit the preview” to exit the Custom Design preview.
- Open the “Colors & Backgrounds” section again and set your custom background for your site, and open the “Header Image” section and set your custom header image.
- Click “Save & Publish” at the top of the customizer.
-
@betweenthelinesbookblog — I just saw your update that everyone is working now; glad to hear it! :)
@actressjordanrice — Can you check now to see if your site’s menu is working as expected?

My background and header reverted to default. I have sorted this out now but still have a black box around my blog title which shouldn’t be there. Please can you tell me how ot remove it.
Thank you.
