Header and background change – Sight theme

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear customer support,

    We are using Sight theme for all our blogs (which are about 40+)
    Today, we found that all our blogs’ header and background have changed to the default WordPress header.

    When we tried to revert them all back, it doesn’t work.

    What can be the problem?
    Could you please give us your help urgently?

    Thank you,
    ILRI communications team

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    https://wordpress.com/stats/clippings.ilri.org and http://news.ilri.org/ blogs are still not working.
    Seems like the other 40+ blogs have been restored.

    Please help. Thank you!

  • I’m sorry for the trouble! Our team launched a change earlier today that caused problems for customizations you made to your site’s appearance. We fixed that problem, and most sites are now back to normal.

    If any of your site’s customizations are still missing, you can open your site’s Customizer and re-save those customizations now.

    If you have any more trouble with that, please let me know!

    Thank you so much Kathryn.

    We are using Sight theme
    We are still encountering problem when trying to customize our site.
    1. Custom Menu (the top menu has just disappeared)
    2. Can not change color of featured image category link

    Thank you for your support
    ILRI team

  • 1. Looks like neither of your two custom menus is currently assigned to your theme. Head to Appearance > Menus and assign the appropriate custom menu to your Primary Menu area by checking the “Primary Menu” box below the selected menu and clicking “Save Menu”

    https://ilriclippings.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php

    I’ll look at #2 next.

  • 2. Looks like there’s a conflict between the new Custom Colors palette you’ve selected in the Customizer and some of your custom CSS. Specifically, this part of the palette:

    #featured-content .entry-header .entry-meta a, #featured-content .featured-post-content .entry-header .entry-categories a, #featured-content .featured-post-content .entry-title, #featured-content .featured-post-content .entry-title a {
    color: #000000;
    }

    is overriding this part of your custom CSS:

    #featured-content .featured-post-content .cat-links a {
        color: #edefc4;
    }

    Try adding this to the bottom of your custom CSS:

    #featured-content .entry-header .entry-meta a, #featured-content .featured-post-content .entry-header .entry-categories a, #featured-content .featured-post-content .entry-title, #featured-content .featured-post-content .entry-title a {
        color: #edefc4;
    }

    Let me know if that does the trick.

    Thank you so much Kathryn for all your help. It definitely did that trick.

    One last thing: We want the featured content title link to be white.

  • Sure, just remove the CSS I gave you earlier and replace it with this instead:

    #featured-content .entry-header .entry-meta a, #featured-content .featured-post-content .entry-header .entry-categories a {
        color: #edefc4;
    }

    #featured-content .featured-post-content .entry-title, #featured-content .featured-post-content .entry-title a {
        color: #fff;
    }
