Header Banner vanished, cannot restore
-
If you could please fix this asap or tell me how, I would really appreciate it. I’m using the pressrow theme, and after purchasing CSS and altering my page to fit 800 px my header (http://%5B*insert blog address here]/2010/01/cropped-mercy-banner-[*firstnamehere]2.jpg) vanished.
I’ve tried everything to restore it. I’ve deleted all changed, reverted, changed to other themes– and I can’t get it back. Please help.

I cancelled custom css entirely and have requested a refund. This has temporarily fixed the problem– however, I’d like to be able to use css in the future and retain the banner. Thanks.

Does this help?
How do I upload images for use with my CSS?
You can upload an image as an attachment to any Post or Page, then refer to it by its direct URL from within your CSS stylesheet. You’ll find the direct URL of each image on your Manage/Uploads tab.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/Once you have the header image direct URL in the CSS stylesheet then you don’t use the header uploader anymore.

CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM. When you alter a theme’s stylesheet, you only need to put in the Editor the modification/additions to the CSS, not the entire thing. Read this for more info >http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/
There is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, so please be patient while waiting for the Volunteers who do help with it to find this thread and answer your questions.

I would guess that you made the common mistake of pasting the entire CSS into the stylesheet editor. This ends up breaking all the relative URL’s for all the images and such in the theme.
What you have to do is to put only the specific selectors, and the specific definitions you are changing or adding into the editor and then make sure “add to existing…” is selected.
As far as the header goes, if you widen a theme via CSS, you can no longer use the custom header upload feature since it will always crop the image to the original size. You have to upload the new image to the media library, get the URL of that image and then put it directly into the proper location in the CSS.
