Header Featured Image

  I want the featured image to show up on the homepage but when i click on the post, the image gets bigger using it as a header and I don’t like how it looks. I have tried codes that i’ve found on here but they don’t work. I also saw someone said that you can only do this if you upgade your plan but I need guidance. Please help!
