Header format in Sketch theme

I’m previewing the Sketch theme with the intention of changing to it – when I upload a photo for the header it elongates it and stretches it out into an unrecognisable distorted image in a long thin format. What am I doing wrong?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello there,
The theme specs say that the custom header image should be at least 1092 pixels. Try uploading an image that is 1092 pixels wide.

I’ve done that. I’ve tried uploading images at all sorts of pixels and the only one that didn’t distort was an image cosiderably less than 1092 pixels, and not cropped. As soon as I crop anything it gets stretched and distorted. Thanks for replying!

Just to be specific: I’ve tried one image 3648 pixels wide which I then cropped, and another of 1876 wide, and then cropped, and then tried them uncropped. Still same distotion. Then I tried an image 500 pixels wide, and uncropped. This appears undistorted but as a fairly large square shaped header which I don’t want. I want a rectangle.
    Ideas please?

  • Try uploading an image of the exact size and don’t crop the image and look how it looks on the site.

I haven’t got any image reducing software or app that will reduce to an exact given pixel width. I can try to get near it. But the instructions say ‘at least’ 1092 wide don’t they? Surely any larger pixel size ought to be ok? I’ll try to do what you suggest.
