Header has stopped appearing on main posts

I post weekly and have used the same custom header since 2014.

I just noticed today that the header has stopped appearing on my main posts since last May.

This is the last post where the header appears (published 9 May)

Ruby Trax: The NME’s Roaring Forty (NME, 1992)

The next one – published 16 May – has no header and it seems that no subsequent ones have it either.

The A To Z Of Irish Rock (Solid, 1992)

I use Classic Editor when creating my posts as the new one is very difficult to manage.

Any ideas what has caused this? Thank you

  • Hey there, this theme uses your featured image as a header if the image is large enough.

I spot checked a handful of posts: those with a featured image set aren’t displaying the header. Also, those images aren’t wide enough to serve as a header image. So, the theme is just deciding not to display anything.

If you’re willing to go with a slight update, this theme is similar, and the header doesn’t change with featured images. You’d just need a bit wider header image:

Or, you can unset featured images on some of those posts to see if that would help.

Hi there – thanks very much, appreciate that and will try it.

Makes sense – coincides with me using featured image.

The reason for using featured image was to ensure that posts shared on Twitter had the “correct” image i.e. front cover of the album – I always post front and back covers in my posts but found that when no featured image was selected, the Twitter thumbnail was of the back image.
