  Hi, I have tried to change my header image a couple of times, however, the new image is only displayed on the side (tiny) and not as the header image.
  Could you give me advice on how to proceed.

  Every theme has a detailed theme description page and this one is at https://wordpress.com/theme/gateway That’s where set up instructions for it are found and link to the live demo site.

  Abstract and decorative background images will work best as Custom Header images. The recommended header size for Gateway is 2560 pixels wide by 640 pixels high.
