header image and gallery thumbnails
-
Why is my image header appearing on my home page, but not on other pages?
Also,
I have a gallery on my home page without a featured image, which is what I’m after. How do I get subsequent galleries on other pages to act the same without a featured image? (I did not select a featured image.) I just want two (or possible three) gallery pages with tiled square thumbnails, nothing else.

Hi,
Because your blog is private we Volunteers cannot see it or know which theme you are using or what you have done with it, so we cannot provide targeted help.
For custom image headers see > http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/ -

Hi. It is no longer private, so take a look if you have a minute. Here is an example of a gallery set up without the featured image:
Also, my custom header doesn’t appear on my “Logos” page.
Ideas?

Hi there,

In the Hatch theme, the header image displays only on the home page.

You can set up galleries on any posts and pages with the “Add Media” button in the editor. We have more information about galleries here: Gallery
Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this. :)

Many thanks for your reply.
Now I get why I can’t get my header image on my second page! The other mystery I’m trying to solve is when I first set up my galleries, there was no featured image. After rearranging my galleries, the featured image appeared. It seems the first image in my galleries becomes the default featured image. Can I customize Hatch to just show the tiled thumbnails without a featured image?

I see what you mean. One thing to know is that isn’t exactly a featured image in your gallery — it’s actually part of how galleries like that work (and isn’t specific to the Hatch theme).
When you use a tiled gallery (like the square tiled gallery you have), it will automatically resize the images to use the full width of the page. Since your gallery has 10 images, it has one large image at the top and then 3 rows of 3 images each. If your gallery had 12 images, they would all be the same size with 3 images in each row.
If you don’t want to change the number of images in your gallery, you could also switch to a non-tiled gallery. The default gallery will show thumbnail images, all in the same size:
First, go to Settings > Media in your dashboard. Next to Tiled Galleries, uncheck the box that says “Display all your gallery pictures in a cool mosaic.” (If that box is checked, all of your site’s galleries will be tiled galleries.)
Then, open your gallery page in the page editor. Click on the gallery, and then click the icon in the corner to edit the gallery. Under Gallery Settings, next to Type, select Thumbnail Grid. Update your page, and you’ll see the thumbnail gallery there.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
