Header Image Appears Cut Off
-
I have sized my image to the exact specifications for the header image for the Highwind theme. It looks perfect when I load it but the page shows a cropped, cut-off image. I have tried many times. Advice?

Thanks for posting this in the themes forum.
I tested adding a 2500 x 413 pixel image to the header area of the Highwind theme, and I see that it gets cut off if you haven’t added a site title or tagline. It looks like this is the way the theme was designed to work. If you don’t like the built in way it is working, you can purchase the Custom Design upgrade to modify the appearance of a theme.
Another way to work around the issue would be to use cropping instead of uploading an image with the 2500 x 413 pixel dimensions. Try uploading an image that is 178 pixels tall if you have deleted the site title and tagline or 285 pixels tall if you do have a site title and tagline saved.
I will also check in with the theme team to make sure the 2500 x 413 pixel dimensions are the correct header image values for Highwind.

Thank you, this is very helpful. If I upgrade I thought I only had access to changing colours and fonts. Would I be able to modify something like the way the theme is set up for sure?
I am looking for a theme with a large header image, so I look forward to your response, as I might change the theme if this one will not accommodate my needs.
Thanks again!

Yes. And you can try out the CSS editor any time before purchasing the upgrade too. To see it, go to Appearance > Customize > Custom Design and click the “Try Now” button. Then open the CSS panel.

Hi,
I am having trouble with this as well. Were you able to check that the specified dimensions were correct?
