Header image credit
-
Hi, new to WordPress here. I’d like to add a custom header image, but don’t know how to add photographer credit. I’ve tried copying it into the ‘caption’ and ‘alt text’ on the image file, but it doesn’t seem to show up on the final page. Is there no way of adding an image credit to the header?
The site I need help with is queerasinweirdstories.wordpress.com.

Hi there,
Captions aren’t shown on custom header images, and alt text is meant for screen readers, i.e. should be a description of the image for visually impaired visitors who can’t see the image itself, so is never visible on the screen.
If you want a credit to appear with the image itself, you’ll need to edit the image file, add the credit directly to the actual image, and then upload that modified version to your site.
Another option is to use a widget in the footer and give credit there. Unless the license under which you’re using the particular image explicitly requires the credit to appear with the image, that should be okay.

Brilliant, thanks, very helpful! I think I’ll go with the footer option as it doesn’t say credit needs to be with the image.
