Header image dark and hazy

Hello,
I chose a vibrant photo as header image but the photo is ruined by a dark and hazy film when applied as the header image.
Can anyone tell me how to avoid this?

Hi @historythroughmoderneyes,
You are using the Ixion theme, this theme has a dark overlay because the site tagline is normally displayed on top of it.

Hi there – I have some good news! Based on several requests, we’ve added a new option to Ixion to change opacity of the overlay on the header – or even remove it entirely.
Go into your Customizer‘s Theme Options panel and you should see the new options. Under “Header Image Overlay” – choose “None” if you’d like to completely remove the overlay.
