Header Image disappeared from home page, but shows everywhere else.
-
I noticed today that the header image on our website just disappeared, I tried going into the customise section and removing it then adding again but it isn’t doing anything.
The header image appears fine on any other page on the website apart from the homepage (static).
Also the site title never appeared before but that now shows up instead of the header.Any ideas?

What is the URL of the site you are trying to work on? We’ll be happy to take a look and see if we can help.

Thanks for the URL!
It seems that there’s a header image that was added via custom HTML directly to your homepage. Try removing it from there:https://wordpress.com/page/craigroyston.wordpress.com/1913.
Also, bear in mind that the theme you’re using on your site is over 10 years old and has already been retired. That means that it may now work correctly with newer browsers, and there won’t be any updates to fix possible issues.
If you’d like to change the theme (you will not be able to go back to Twenty Ten anymore), you can try them without activating by clicking on the three dots next to the theme’s name and choosing the option Try&Customize. This will allow you to see how the theme would look like with your content and how you could customize it.

That is a separate header image, there should be one above the menu items, if you click on any other page on the site the header is there.

Looking at this a bit closer, I see over 500 lines of Custom CSS have been applied to the theme settings in Customize. This affects custom design changes to your site’s theme and could be the most likely cause. As a next step, I recommend thoroughly checking the CSS to ensure it’s not unintentionally hiding the header image that’s clearly appearing on all other pages.
If you find it is not the CSS, let us know. We provide limited CSS support which we detail here: https://wordpress.com/support/custom-design/css-support/

I ended up copying the contents to a new blank page and set that as the home page, that solved the issue with the header at the very top. But then I realised that I forgot to set a featured image, when I set it back to what it was the header disappeared again.

After I removed the featured image again the header appeared, but this was never an issue before…
