header image display problems

  In my chosen theme, Decode, it recommends a 300 pixel height header image. when i upload the image (with the correct and recommended proportions) it doesn’t allow me to crop the image, and thus doesn’t load into the header image space on the page. the image is downloading fine into my media library, but i can use it on the header.

  it worked completely fine before the most recent update to theme, but now won’t work. i think it is a bug! help!
