Header image doesn't appear on site in right format
-
My header image is not coming in the right format on my website since a day. The image is 2000 x 1200 pixels, but it only shows a very narrow bar of the photo.
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.
Thank you in advance.

Hi there,
This is how your theme shows the featured image on the blog page. You can see the same on the demo site, here:
https://twentyseventeendemo.wordpress.com/news/
The large featured images you see on the demo site’s home page is only when you set up the theme with a static front page as explained in the theme’s instructions, here:
-
This is how your theme shows the featured image on the blog page.
Neither the image at the top of the homepage (blog page) of https://verakonijn.wordpress.com/, nor the image at the top of the blog page (titled “Recent News“) on the Twenty Seventeen demo are featured images. In each case it is the site header image.
However, on a test site with Twenty Seventeen applied, while I was able to replicate the cropped effect on the site header image on the blog page when a static page is set as the homepage, as is the case on the demo, I was unable to replicate the cropped effect of the site header image on the default blog page (that is, when the blog page is the homepage). Instead the image displays at 2000 x 1200 pixels, or at full-size if that’s the size of the file image. The header also displays at 2000 x 1200 on a static front page.
Since I was unable to duplicate the effect produced by @verakonjin on the homepage of her site and the effect wasn’t duplicated on the demo either, I guessed that she might have inadvertently produced the effect with CSS code. Two other factors favored this hypothesis:
1. Whereas the default label or header of the homepage when it’s the blog page displays on my test site as “Posts,” it was missing on her site.
2. The action button found parallel to the header navigation menu (at far right) on the demo and on my test site when the homepage is the blog page was missing on her site.
These differences, along with the shortened header image, together suggested that there had been some CSS code modification.
The header image is now displaying at full-size on @verakonjin’s site. Also, the label “Berichten” (presumably the equivalent of “Posts” on my test site) and the previously missing action button both now appear on the homepage. These changes suggest that @verakonjin might have revised the code that was producing the errors previously.
@verakonjin,
Your header image is now displaying at full-size on the homepage. Did you do something to fix the problem?

Sorry if you felt offended, but that certainly wasn’t the intention. The correction was necessary as basis for the the hypothesis I describe in the last post. Obviously in the post I’m just trying to consider possible answers to two questions:
1. Why wasn’t @verakonjin’s header image displaying at the expected size previously?
2. What was done to fix it? -
By the way, I’d been following this topic and considering the problem for half a day before you responded. I didn’t just jump in randomly.

Correction:
Change “for half a day” to “intermittently over the course of up to 12 hours or more.”
