Header image getting cropped

  Hi,
  I’m using the Independent Publisher 2 theme, and have just added a header image which is designed to the dimensions recommended – 1440×600 – yet the site somehow ends up cropping it, height-wise, so that it cuts into the text that is in the image.
  How can I get it to just display the image in full? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried using a 1920×1080 version of the image as well; this too gets cropped in.
