header image in goran theme
-
I can’t get the waterlily image that appears on the other pages of my site to appear behind the Home page header.
Although I’ve got a ‘Blog’ page up at this time, I would like the blog to appear on the home page if I can just get the picture to appear there.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Best idea is to always refer to the theme’s guidelines / outline page and go over it methodically when setting up a new theme..
a quick look there states:
Front Page Template
This template is tailor-made for homepage that introduces your business to the world. Rich, powerful, and flexible, the Front Page Template includes three optional featured page areas and three optional widget areas. You can also add a full-width leading image with a call to action, as seen in the screenshot above. When you first activate Goran, you’ll see your posts in a traditional blog format. If you’d like to use this template as the front page of your site, follow these instructions:
Create or edit a page, and then assign it to the Front Page Template from the Page Attributes module.
Add an introduction to your site. For best results, we recommend a few sentences.
Set your front page image — behind the text — as a Featured Image.
Go to Settings → Reading and set “Front page displays” to “A static page.”
Select the page to which you just assigned the Front Page Template as “Front page,” and then choose another page as “Posts page” to display your blog posts.Hope it sorts out for you..

I read the guidelines, tried that, I got two interconnected pages, one with a messed up picture and no posts, one without a picture and posts.
I originally wanted the theme just as it came out of the box, but I couldn’t get the picture to appear on the home page.
Just now I went back to customize and chose one of the suggested pictures, went back to view the site and still no picture.

Hi again,
You need to read / scroll to the end of the Goran outline and you’ll see notes on how to set up your front page..Sidebar Position: choose to display the sidebar on the left or right.
Top Area Content: display some content above the header — perfect for a phone number or an email address.Thumbnail Aspect Ratio: choose the aspect ratio of the thumbnails used for the Grid Page Template or for the Featured Page Areas.
Pages: show breadcrumb navigation: display a breadcrumb navigation on pages.
Front Page: show title: display the Front Page Template’s title.
Front Page: Featured Page One: select a page to feature on the Front Page Template.*
Front Page: Featured Page Two: select a page to feature on the Front Page Template.*
Front Page: Featured Page Three: select a page to feature on the Front Page Template.*
*For any of the featured pages selected for the front page, keep in mind that if you choose your posts page, the front page will display excerpts and featured images of your latest blog posts. You also will see there, that images need to be a certain size.. also that by going to Dashboard > Customise > Theme Options is where you will set what will be your Home Page. Because the way your front page is displaying right now, simply means it needs to be set up. (a snapshot of the Goran Themes page)

That’s Dashboard > Themes > Customize
Or Dashboard > Appearance > Customize
to get to the setting of your Home Page…. then you’ll be ok once you work on the display.

Just going over that a little, that theme looks very similar to a theme I on a blog I co author on.
So, if you want to set it up like it was shown; there are those call to action buttons that are on top of the picture? The guidelines to add those buttons is at the end of the Goran Theme page. That is what is also known as a ‘landing page’ and why the picture needs to be quite large.. yours states
Quick Specs (all measurements in pixels)
The main column width is 700 except in the full-width layout where it’s 1086.
A widget is 314.
Featured Images for posts are 772 wide by unlimited high.
Featured Images for pages are 1230 wide by 1230 high. Therefore, you’re either going to need to set up a ‘default page’ if you just want your blog page to be ‘basic’ and set your front page as ‘static’.
Hope that helps.

If you’re still confused, go to the Demo of Goran Theme (a different link than b4) and click on the different page styles to understand them better (as the front page they use is a Grid Page)
Late in Australia, so I’ll check back tomorrow…

Hi, not sure what you are referring to nor the theme you are using (as you’re not the original poster..) since it has to be an option available for your theme… so for themes that give you a post slider for the display layout of your front page go to this link or this one for only ‘free’ themes do keep in mind that once you buy a theme it’s yours, as they’re only a one off payment.
Cheers,
Sasha
