Header Image issues

Setting up new blog and want to replace the Cutline header photo with our own .jpg banner image. I used photodeluxe to make it the right size, yet when I uploaded it the cropping tool essentially showed that the image was way too big, and cordoned off about two-thirds of the image. So, back to photodeluxe to make it even smaller….uploaded….and yes this image is now smaller, but the cropping tool simply got smaller as well and is ‘telling’ me it will only accept about 2/3 of the image again. What the heck? Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks

What’s the file size for the image?

    Are you sure it’s 770 x 140 pixels?

The first attempt was exactly that. When that showed as way too big (and appeared as a humongous two-thirds of a banner when I applied it to the header space)after uploading, I went back and saved it in even smaller dimensions — same result, only minitaurized (including the cropping tool, which is just bizarre). For some reason the cropping tool is only covering two-thrids of the image no matter what size I make the image. Weird.

Don’t know if this will help, but I’ve noticed that in uploading a header image, then another (if I wasn’t satisfied with the outcome of the first), I run into problems if the new one has the same name as the first (e.g. “header”), even though it’s been modified and the first no longer actually exists on my computer. Those problems go away if I save a new version of it under a different name (e.g., “header1”) and upload *that* instead.

The file size is a whopping 54kb

Have you tried my handy fix-all trick yet?

gm, yes i did, but sadly I’m getting the same result. I’m wondering if the problem really lies in my photodeluxe program — the size indicated doesn’t seem to be the size it’s actually saving as. I’m going to try a different editor and see if that makes a difference. Thanks, though.

I have zero trouble if I put the image into MSPaint and then re-size it to fit prior to uploading. Have your tried this?
