Header Image issues
-
I’ve been trying to change my header image for like days now and it’s not been working. Tried to change it to a custom image of my choice but it’s still the same original theme header image. How can I resolve this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
This is the support document for the theme you’re currently using. Have a look and see if this information helps.

Best of luck!

I’ve come across it before and it’s the steps I’ve been following but still doesn’t work. I was thinking though, does the size of the photo affect anything? The size of the image is around 800kb. I don’t know if that’s the problem
-
So, I’ve installed that theme on one of my sites to see if I could figure out the problem you may be having.
It states: While you can crop images to your liking after clicking Add new image, your theme recommends a header size of 1230 × 576 pixels.
Do you know the size of the actual image you’re uploading? Not the file size (you said 800kb)
Also, what is the file type you’re using?
Something I came across here:
Important: Only .jpeg, .gif, and .png files can be used. All cropped images will be converted to jpegs. Using an image of exactly the right size will produce the best results, and this is certainly recommended. To preserve transparency in an image use a .gif or .png image of exactly the right size.
Let me know how that goes. :)

@ kizodaniels,
Have you clicked the Save & Publish button after uploading an image to set as your custom header image?
-
@ kizodaniels,
If you continue to encounter this issue, you may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention.
-
Tried the save and publish, didn’t work. I think I’ll try the modlook tag you talked about when I log in with my system. How do I do that by the way?
-
No worries. I’ve already added the tag. You just scroll up this page and type word “modlook” in the box labeled Tags in the right sidebar, and then click the “Add” button.

Hi, do you mean the big background image? That’s a featured image, and if you have a featured image set, the header image won’t display.
Also, from the Goran documents:
Your Custom Header will be displayed on Pages, as well as on blog archives. If you’ve added a Featured Image to a Page, it will be displayed instead of the Custom Header. The Custom Header will be displayed on the homepage, as long as you’ve set it to display a static page.
I hope that helps :)

I’m talking about the background image at the top side of the page where the name of the blog is and basically where the ‘HOME’ is written. And I cant really find anything relate to Featured image
It’s set to static page but the custom header is not being displayed. Check the page out http://www.kizodaniels.wordpress.com It’s the image with the laptop, notepad and pen that I’m trying to change.
Thanks by the way musicdoc1 -
@ kizodaniels,
As supernovia has said, your homepage is displaying a featured image at the top, not a header image. But it’s a default featured image, one that was in place when you created the site.
And I cant really find anything relate to Featured image
See the Featured Images support page.
The information provided in the Goran theme guide regarding the Custom Header Images that supernovia quotes from above, is confusing because of the order of the statements. It says:
Your Custom Header will be displayed on Pages, as well as on blog archives. If you’ve added a Featured Image to a Page, it will be displayed instead of the Custom Header. The Custom Header will be displayed on the homepage, as long as you’ve set it to display a static page.
I think the middle sentence, “If you’ve added a Featured Image to a Page, it will be displayed instead of the Custom Header,” should be the last of the three sentences in this paragraph, because a featured image will override a custom header image in every case. That is what has happened in your case, on your front page. The custom header image, any custom header image you add, will never appear until the featured image is removed.
See the Removing a Featured Image section of the Featured Images support page for instructions.
Note that the Custom Header Image section of the Goran theme guide also says:
The Custom Header is not displayed on the blog page or individual blog posts.

Wow. Thank you so much @musicdoc1. You simplified everything. Finally was able to change it. Had to edit the home page featured image. Thanks so much.

If you’ve added a Featured Image to a Page, it will be displayed instead of the Custom Header
Suggestion to Goran theme designers:
Not only should this sentence appear after the one which precedes it in the Custom Header Image section of the Goran theme guide, “The Custom Header will be displayed on the homepage, as long as you’ve set it to display a static page,” but it should include the case of a featured image being present at the creation of the site. So perhaps something like the following would be preferable:
If there is a default Featured Image in a page, or if you’ve added one, it will be displayed instead of a Custom Header, if one is added, and displayed if no Custom Header is added.

Great! You’re welcome.
I should have addressed my previous post to supernovia, who may pass along my suggestions to the theme designers. -

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I’ve submitted an update.
Also, I just wanted to point out that you have a logo on the site as well, which seems to be a duplicate of your header image. That’s on Customize > Site Identity. I hope that helps!
