I am trying to add a link to our header image on
how can I do so in my current theme?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To clarify, I am looking to link the header image on
(not rakelly7.wordpress.com.)
is it still not possible?

The header in Colinear – as in most themes – links to your homepage. The link is added by default.
Are you all set or do you still need help?

I suspect you want people to click a header image and sail off your site to an external site and that’s a deceptive linking practice and it’s not possible.

Is that what you want to do?
Do know that you can create a custom menu https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#1-create-a-custom-menu and include a custom link in it to the external site. https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#adding-custom-links
You can also link any image within a post or a page to an external site.

I would like have the header image link to a different link/page, not my homepage, if possible.

It’s possible to — in a very hacky way — cobble together some CSS to override the custom header’s link to the homepage.
Here’s a post that gives an example:
