Header Image Not Displaying Correctly | Independent Publisher Theme

Theme: Independent Publisher
Blog: http://jeneditsblog.wordpress.com/Issue: Header Image Not Displaying Correctly
I loaded a custom 1440 x 600 image as my blog header. However, I can’t get the whole image to display. The header seems to zoom in on the center of the image, even though on the Crop screen, the whole image was in the crop area.
I’ve looked at the detailed information on the Independent Publisher theme. I’ve attempted to resize the image and even change the resolution of the image. I’ve turned the Social Menu on and off. I’ve deleted all header images from the theme and from the Media Library and then reloaded. Nothing seems to change the way the header is displaying. Can anyone assist? Is there a setting or something that I’m missing?
Many thanks!

I should add that I am NOT displaying the site title or tagline because those things are part of the custom image I have loaded. When I choose to display those two things WITH TEXT IN BOTH FIELDS, the image displays properly. Choosing to display the site title and tagline, but leaving the fields blank or adding just spaces to the field, DO NOT force the image to display correctly.
I would like to display the entire 1440 x 600 image without displaying the site title and tag line on my site.
If this is not possible, can you tell me what the image size should be without those displayed? I’ll have to resize my custom image so it displays properly.
Thanks!

Hi @jeniferjblog,
Firstly: Apologies for the delay in response to your question! It seems it fell through the cracks here.
Since Independent Publisher is designed for a large custom header, which is used as a background image, edges of the image may indeed get cropped and will further adapt to smaller screen sizes. Custom headers that work best in this type of theme are more flexible, decorative or abstract, so they can handle this sort of cropping.
If it’s important for you to have an image that isn’t cropped and is fully visible across devices of all sizes, you could consider using a theme that support the site logo feature.
The site logo feature is meant for images like yours, that include important text or can’t tolerate cropping. You can filter for themes that support it here:
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/site-logo/type/free/
Ecto and Publication are a couple of examples of themes that are similar in style to Independent Publisher. I also encourage you to have a browse through the above selection!
Let me know if that information helps or if you have further questions.

Hi! Thanks for the response. I think I posted on a day where there was a big out-of-the-office training event. ;)
I’ll look at the other themes. Thanks much!
