Hello Adam,
I’ve added a custom header image, at the size spec that the theme recommends and it isnt showing at all on the page.
With the Pique theme – the header image won’t show on the page set as the homepage.
Instead, the page itself would need to have a featured image attached (as the background), with the content on the page.
What follows that content on the homepage, is content that can be configured via Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Panels (1,2,3..etc).
The header image will show on other static pages.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply, But I’m not entirely sure what you mean – so sorry, I’m very new.
If you go on to the homepage and the find the ‘blog’ section, where I’ve got the image at the top there – which is the header image I’ve uploaded – that’s what I want on the homepage. Is that not possible?
If that’s the case, is there an easy way to find a theme that does allow that? I don’t want a theme with a HUGE image at the top, just something simple like the one I was hoping to use
Thanks again for your help, it really is much appreciated

Hi there,
For the theme you are using now (Pique) the homepage is a unique template with ‘sections’ that have full width images behind them. You can see that here: https://piquedemo.wordpress.com/
There is a “header image” that you can set for internal pages on the site, which is why you see your header images on pages like this one, even though it’s not visible on your homepage: https://viewfromthepottingbench.com/guest-articles/
That said, you could just add an image block above the current content you have on the homepage (and set the block to display at the full site width) and that would add your header image to the homepage. It would however be below the menu, which may not be what you are looking for.
In that case I’d say switching themes makes sense. Out of curiosity, do you happen to have any sites (does not have to be WordPress) that you are drawing inspiration from or trying to emulate?
You may want to consider any of the themes we offer here with header image option: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/+custom-header
One thing to watch for though is on the demo site… click from the homepage to the other pages of the demo. If the header image stays the same for all pages, that sounds like it’d be the best fit with what you are trying to set up.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

I’m definitely looking for a theme with a static header image that displays on all pages, as it does on my ‘blog’ pages. The trouble I’ve found with adding a block with the image on it is that the blank header space stills remains behind the menu and it’s quite large…
I’d ideally like a theme with a header image on every page, that I can also have a menu. Essentially I want the top of every page to look as it does on my blog pages, if that makes sense?

It does make sense, but one thing to be aware of is that most themes, in order to scale themselves to display on mobile correctly will crop the header image to some extent. This can make it difficult to find a theme that will work with your current image, as it’s not common anymore to use header images with text and layout embedded in them as you have now.
That said, you may be able to find one of our older themes that is more to your liking as they tend to use this design with a large header image followed by a menu followed by the content of the blog. This is one I had in mind:
https://wordpress.com/theme/dara/
Here is another:
https://wordpress.com/theme/twentyeleven
One thing to be aware of is that you can “try” any theme before committing to it ,to see if it’s the right fit for you. This video shows you how: https://d.pr/v/Ywrcfq
This gives you full access to the theme settings so you can add a header image and make any other tweaks to see if the theme will work for your needs.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you for your reply to this. I’ve opted with going for Dara as it gives me as near to what I’m after, however there is now a large white ‘block’ between the header image and the menu and then another one between the menu and the ‘content’. Is there a way I can remove or reduce these?

Hi there,
Those spaces are part of the theme.
The space above the menu is there to display the social menu for this theme, and it isn’t removed when no menu is displayed. Removing that space completely would require using custom CSS code on our Premium Plan.
The space below the menu is also part of the theme’s design. You can make that less obvious by adding a featured image to the page – the theme is really designed to use featured images on all posts and pages, that’s why it has that extra spacing there. It should be clearer if you look at this page on the theme demo site, for example: https://darademo.wordpress.com/about/
Removing that instead will also require some CSS code.
Something I noticed, though – you don’t appear to have a title set at all for your site. That’s not recommended, as that will prevent search engines from properly indexing and listing your site in search results.
Go to the Customizer ->Site Identity, and make sure you set a title there. As long as you leave the box to display the title unchecked, the title won’t be visible on the page, but search engines will still be able to “see” it.
