There isn’t anyway to rotate headers automatically that I know of here at wordpress.com.

Somehow I have a niggling memory that devblog had something on his CSSWiz blog, but I couldn’t find it the last time I visited it.

Thank-you Sacred Path. I do it manually. I Edit my “Archive: Header Images” Page and make a space. I find my photographs in Documents (the Header Images that I have used are there, as well as my other pix). I find the latest and use Copy. Then, back in the Page, I use Paste, and add a comment. I like your idea of an automatic rotation! It would have saved me (a stumbling amateur) much struggle!

This is the first time I have used this feature. I find I cannot correct my typos and my TMI. Sorry!

This is a really, really old thread, but it appears like the sandbox theme supports random headers, or actually more like timed header changes, but sandbox has had several upgrades since this thread, so I have no idea if it still works or not. Also, sandbox is a blank slate with absolutely no styling, so it requires you to have a fair amount of CSS editing experience and some extra time on your hands to completely style the theme.

Thanks, Sacred Path. That clears up my question whether anybody else changes header images on their Sapphire theme.
I do not know what CSS editing is. I cannot do clever stuff anyway. I intended to click Resolved. but I see you have closed the Replies. Thanks again.
I do find it odd that, with the Sapphire option for refreshing header image, nobody else does it. I was looking forward to seeing their work.

Well, just to clarify Jennifer’s comment, I had rotating headers on my CSS blog, but I had the CSS upgrade and those images were randomly served from my server.
However, after reading Andy’s and Sunburntkamel’s replies to the post TSP linked you to, I think that’s a really clever way to rotate your images without having to rely on an external server. By having different selectors defined, you can have different images displayed at a specific hour… and honestly, I never thought of doing something like that before.
So, you might want to try doing something like this:
body.h01 #header {background: COLOR url(URL_TO_IMG/image001.jpg) 0 0 no-repeat;} ... body.h10 #header {background: COLOR url(URL_TO_IMG/image010.jpg) 0 0 no-repeat;} ... body.h21 #header {background: COLOR url(URL_TO_IMG/image021.jpg) 0 0 no-repeat;} ... and so on...This would rotate your header image every hour.
Hope this helps.
