Header Image Size
-
I’m using the Gateway theme and I would like to increase the Header image size to around 1000px.
How can that be done?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Via Custom CSS https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-css/ add this:
.header-bg { min-height: 1000px; } -
The front page in the demo is using the Home Page template.
For details, see https://wordpress.com/theme/gateway

I’m really trying to get the template to look more like the example for the Gateway theme Link, any idea how I can do that?
The image at the top of the homepage on the Gateway demo is a featured image, not a header image. However, you may obtain the same effect with a header image on this theme, though without the dark filter.
As staff-blorbo indicates the homepage on the demo has the Homepage Template applied. There are instructions for setting up that template in the Homepage Template section of the Gateway theme Overview.
Note also that the various content displayed over the featured image or header image on a page with the homepage template applied will stretch the height of the displayed image as long as the scroll option is chosen at Customize → Theme Options → General → Header Image Display. In the demo that content includes the site logo, title, as well as the line “Use this template to give your readers a bit of important information” and a call to action button. The latter two may be inserted at Customize → Theme Options → Homepage Template → Hero Content.
Another way to stretch the height of the displayed portion of the featured image or header image on a page with the homepage template applied is to insert a column of line break tags into the Hero Content field. Other tags might work just as well.
The phrase “Grab Their Attention” in the header area of the demo isn’t the site title, which is actually hidden, it’s the “Hero Title.” You may add a hero title at Customize → Theme Options → Homepage Template → Hero Title.
Also the header image can only be a maximum of 640 pixels according to the customiser.
The height of 640 pixels recommended in the customizer is the minimum, not the maximum.
See also the following information in the Quick Specs section at the bottom of the Gateway Overview:
Recommended header size: 2560 pixels wide by 640pixels high when the Header Image Display is set to fixed, and 2560 pixels wide by 1000 pixels high when it’s set to scroll.
The fixed and scroll options for the header image are found at Customize → Theme Options → General → Header Image Display.

The dimensions of the featured image on the Gateway demo homepage are 2560 pixels X 1207 pixels.

thanks for the answer
I indeed figured out that by adding content on the featured image the height of the image was streched…But my problem is that I wouldlike to have a “clean” image, without having to fill it with many titles and buttons and all.
I saw that Bacchusmarshuc suceeded cause is featured image is streched without having added the content…
I tried to put spaces instead of real title but doesn’t work…
Don’t know how he achieved it…

It looks like @bacchusmarshuc added some spacers somehow. The line break tags I suggested above work. On a test site I’ve added the same header image used on @bacchusmarshuc’s site, and have a similar site logo, title, and tagline. I was able to produce a header image height nearly identical to that site by simply inserting a column of three line break tags in the Hero Content field, like so:
