Header image size using Karuna theme
-
Does anyone know if it is possible to reduce the size of the header image when used in the Karuna theme? It is really big on a desktop as it takes up the whole screen. Looks ok on a mobile though.
If it is possible some tips on how to resize most welcome
thanks

Hi,
The following message appears at Customize > Header Image:
While you can crop images to your liking after clicking Add new image, your theme recommends a header size of 2000 × 800 pixels.
All of the Karuna demo‘s default header images that I’ve checked have file size 2000 x 800 pixels, and are cropped (scaled) to 1263 x 505. Header images on Karuna are automatically scaled to 1263 x 505 if you skip cropping when beginning with a file image of the size 2000 x 800.
Your header image is a square with sides of 1041 pixels. I believe that because 1041 is less than 1263, the image won’t be scaled if you skip cropping. So it appears as the file size. However, you do have the option of cropping the image. To do so, at Customize > Header Image, take the following steps:
1. Choose “Add new image.”
2. Select the image from the site’s media library by clicking on it, and then clicking the “Select and Crop” button.
3. Use the cropping tool to resize the image.
4. Click the “Crop Image” button.
5. Click the “Save & Publish” button. -
Thanks @musicdoc1
@zerowastevillage, you might also try just adding a shorter image — one that is much wider than it is tall. Or if you don’t like that full-width image look, there are other themes that don’t feature large “hero” images like that.
