Header image slide in Hero theme suddenly gone.

In my blog using the hero theme the header image slide is suddenly gone. It worked ’til yesterday and I have no if I did something wrong that disabled it nor do I have an idea how to enable it again. How can I get it back?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When you go to Appearance > Customize in your dashboard and click on Header, do you see your image listed under Current Header?
(Example: http://i.imgur.com/F6Bn1L2.png)
I would try re-uploading your image there if you don’t see it.

I never uploaded an image there. It’s usually a slideshow showing the last 10 article images (taged with “fav”) and the first lines of the corresponding blog post.

Oh I see, it looks like you are using the built in Featured Content function.
Have you checked under Appearance > Customize > Featured Content to see that “fav” is still set as your Tag name?
You might also check under Posts > Tags to make sure the tag “fav” hasn’t been edited. (This page will also show you how many posts the tag is currently assigned to so you can check that it hasn’t been removed accidentally.)

oh cool, that was the problem… though I don’t know how the tag vanished from the featured content as I wasn’t aware changing something there. many thank’s for your help :)
