header image too blurred
-
Hey People,
Excuses for posting this twice, but I realise now I posted the question in a “resolved” chapter. So, now I post it again.
I’m having the following problem: it looks like WordPress enforces every header-image into a brutally compressed JPEG. In my case, it makes the image very blurry, although it was a perfect crisp image of exactly the right size. It doesn’t matter if I upload it as PNG, JPEG (100% quality) or GIF: the result is always a blurry jpeg. Please, if you’d like, have a look at http://jmactief.wordpress.com
[I think it could help make things clear in the discussion above.]

Can you put up a copy of the original image that is not cropped into the header to compare?

Deleted the other post. Just for reference it was fine. We’re not big on not allowing followups in resolved threads if they’re related.
Also how big in file size is the original in kb? Also in measument in pixel size?

I save my headers as PNG, and host them on Imageshack. (www.imageshack.us). Using the link, my header’s pretty clear.

That’s not recommended. You should be only using one host else you have to rely on the second host to be up at all times.

Hey folks,
Thanks for the reactions so far. I’ve put a PNG version of it on “http://jmactief.wordpress.com/files/2007/06/wp-logo_header_jma_stijl2.png”
I’m especially picky on the red characters saying “jongeren milieu actief | blog”. Also the details in globe get lost because of the bluriness…
I understand from your reactions that it is indeed unavoidable?
The image size, as requested
740 x 140 pixels
jpeg ( “uncompressed” ) 67,5 kb
png – 42,9 kb
gif – 12,5 kbI’m curious…
