header image will not appear
-
Hello,
I am currently using the Ocean Mist theme by Ed Merritt and I have purchased the CSS upgrade. I am not a designer…I know enough to be dangerous. While editing the CSS for my blog, I changed… something… and no matter how many times I have uploaded my header image, in the preview as well as once I save the upload, the header image will not appear. Does anyone have any idea what I could have changed to do this? As far as I know, I have only been changing background colors. Here is my blog: http://blog.marriagenectar.com/
Thanks so much!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Once you have the CSS upgrade, you have to size your images exactly to the size needed, and then upload them to the media library directly instead of using the header image feature. Then you get the URL of that image from the media library and put it into the correct place in the CSS. For Ocean Mist, that would be the background declaration under #mainpic (see below)
background:url("images/mainpic01.jpg") no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;Replace images/mainpic01.jpg between the quote marks with the URL of your image you uploaded to the media library.

And actually, using the original image you were using it would be this
background:url("http://peachiesmarriagenectar.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/cropped-moo-sample_v1.jpg") no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; -
Thanks for your response. I get it! But, I don’t see the background declaration #mainpic.
I do see references to the background within the following areas:• body {
• #page {
• #header {
• .title {All of which reflect: background:url(‘images/bg_header.gif’) — some say repeat and 1 says no-repeat
So where do I copy my media library URL if I don’t have a #mainpic?

OK, I found it and entered the following:
background:url(‘http://peachiesmarriagenectar.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/cropped-moo-sample_v1.jpg’) no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
Still no image. Should I use single quotes ( ‘ ) or double quotes ( “) ?

When I look, it is missing the http: at the beginning of the address. Check it and add that in.

I just noticed that the URL you are using returns a 404 file not found error. Did you upload a new image or delete that one?

Hi Thesacredpath … I had to step out for a minute.
I made the updates and still no image. — You got a 404 error. — I got a message the other night stating I was just a click away from “?? I forgot what” (I know I am goofy) anyway, my blog address changed from peachiesmarriagenectar.wordpress.com to blog.marriagenectar.com. It appears that my blog is under one url and the CSS is under the other. -
The CSS and the images will always reflect the old wordpress.COM URL.
background:url("http://peachiesmarriagenectar.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/cropped-moo-sample_v1.jpg") no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;If I put the above into your CSS under #mainrpic using Firebug, the header appears on your blog.

Did you just fix it :-) or did I fix via your expert instructions? I just refreshed my browser and the image is there.
