Header missing (sometimes)

I sent this to “Feedback” too but don’t know where to look for their response. Will it be sent to me via email?
Anyway…
I have a GIF image uploaded as a header but it just decides to not appear sometimes. Some of my readers sent me an email to say that they had to refresh the page 5-10 times before the header appeared.
What gives?

When did you upload it? Was there a previous one? Are they seeing a previous one? The first thing that comes to mind is with WordPress content being duped between a number of datacenters is that the header hasn’t made it to all of them yet.
Red banner with a little one? Came right up for me first try. I don’t think I’ve been to your blog since the last time I cleared out my cache.
edit: 205kb in size? That’s a bit large…

You are seeing the right header. And sometimes I can see it too. But sometimes I can’t–it just doesn’t load. Instead, I will just see a blue bar (which I think is the default color for the Contempt Theme).
As far as the 205K, that does sound large. Do you think you could tell me how to make it smaller? I made it in photoshop…anyone know how to do this?
It’s just frustrating because the rest of the blog loads fine, but the header just doesn’t show up unless I refresh the page a bunch of times!

You know what’s really strange. I desided to double check your blog so I cleaned out my cache while sitting here with an open window where you blog was loaded.
the blog stayed but the header picture disappeared without me doing anything. But the blog stayed. Strange…
I’m not sure what’s going on. IE 6 is trying to convert it to a *.bmp when I save it. At about 300kb in size.
I went ahead and loaded the header into Paint Shop Pro and exported them out as a *.png and a *.jpg. I know that there are file extention restrictions on the header uploads. I’d try the *png one first but I have a feeling that you might have to use the *.jpg one:
The *.png is 88kb and the *.jpg is 17kb.
See how they look.

I’m behind a proxy server since I’m at a coffee shop and then it’s Bellsouth DSL on top of that and they cache as well.

Okay with my firefox 2 browser the blog comes up first and moments later the header comes up. The header doesn’t appear to come up any slower than any other wordpress headers like the ones on my own blog. That was today and that being said I have noticed come and go header images on my own blogs lately and that up to yesterday they took a little longer to load. I left a tab open on fwdmovie for 10 minutes and the header didn’t disappear. HTH

Likewise, I have problems uploading the custom header, and my picture is only 80kb.
When I actually try to upload the picture, everything is good until after I crop.
Once the cropping is done, the header background turns black, but the picture does not appear, both on the admin panel as well as on the blog.
What can I do? Help!!

The size of header for the Kubrik theme is 760 pixels x 200 pixels. If you size your image first and then upload it you should have not any difficulties at all. If you do then you’ll have to send in a feedback.
