‘Header & Nav’ menu item disappears from Theme Customizer

Hi guys, I’ve got an issue that’s driving me nuts I’m struggling to find the help I need!
My goal is to get a main header menu up on my staging site (no menu is visible at the moment). So I’m following one of the Divi guides here: https://www.elegantthemes.com/documentation/divi/customizer-header/
The problem is that I pretty much fail at the first hurdle because when I launch the Theme Customiser, the menu item ‘Header & Navigation’ disappears instantly and I can’t figure out why!
You can see it happening in my video/gif here as the page finishes loading: https://preview.redd.it/saon2iqovtd51.gif?format=mp4&s=46d20e1ca29fb399cd56578e0ada98b6da6ad65bMy best guess at this point is that the theme I was using before Divi (Belise Lite) perhaps made some sort of change to the header navigation before I installed the Divi theme, but I can’t verify that hunch in any way.
Can you help me?
