Header on Independent Publisher 2

    Hi,

    I wanted to know if it’s possible to have a header which isn’t zoomed on Independent Publisher 2. I tried different sizes (including the one recommended) but it’s still the same. I also tried to put a description and a logo to see if it changes something and it is a little bit less zoomed (I don’t plan on adding a description or a logo). The zoom effect isn’t even the same if I’m on the blog home page or if i’m on the “My Site” menu. It’s more zoomed on the home page. If it could at least look like the header on the “My Site” menu, it would be better.

    Here’s my blog et here’s what it looks like on the “My Site” menu

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there, try resizing your browser window — you’ll see how the header changes depending on the window size. Given that, what would you like to do?

    @shizao,

    I wanted to know if it’s possible to have a header which isn’t zoomed on Independent Publisher 2. I tried different sizes (including the one recommended) but it’s still the same.

    Here’s your homepage, and here’s the isolated header image. I find no significant difference in the image resolution of those two, or any zoom effect applied, regardless of the browser size I’m viewing them with.

    There does seem to be automatic cropping of the image on either side on small screens, with especially notable cropping on various mobile phone screen sizes. Is that what you’re referring to?

    I also notice that even on ar relatively large screen the height of the header image as displayed on the site has been cropped. This is apparently because the design of the Independent Publisher 2 theme makes display of the full height of the image dependent upon including things such as a tagline, site icon, and site logo.

    The zoom effect isn’t even the same if I’m on the blog home page or if i’m on the “My Site” menu. It’s more zoomed on the home page. If it could at least look like the header on the “My Site” menu, it would be better.

    By the “My Site” menu, I presume that you mean at Customize (via My Site > Design). At Customize, you may obtain virtually the same view of pages and posts on your site, including the header image, that visitors see by hiding the controls. This is done by clicking the little arrow button labeled “Hide Controls” at the bottom of the controls menu section.

    If this is what you’re referring to, there’s no way to prevent that. Most WordPress themes, including Independent Publisher, add header images as a background image to the site header section, and they are automatically center-cropped. Preventing this would involve modifying the source code of the theme itself, so isn’t even something you can override with a bit of custom CSS code.

    Indeed, when i change the window size (when not in full screen), the header isn’t cropped, but it still is in full screen regardless of the browser size like @musicdoc1 said.

    @musicdoc1
    Yes, cropped and not zoomed, my bad. And you’re also right about Customize, the header wasn’t as cropped because of the controls menu. As for the mobile version, i noticed that too but i was referring to the dekstop version.

    So if i’m understanding well, there’s no way to have a header which isn’t cropped. I’ll see what i can do about the mobile version.

    Thank you all for your answers
