Header only on front page?

  I need a theme, where I can display a full-screen picture on the front page (proportion 2:3) with a black menu below the picture. But on the sub-pages i do not want to display the header, as it takes up way too much space. I wanted to use the full-frame theme, but it doesn’t have any alternative templates.

  What do I do? Possibly I could use other functions to achieve this. Have been looking at sticky posts etc. , but I would prefer to have the menu below the front page photo, not above – and it seems header is the only way to achieve that.
