Header (Original still flashes up)

    Hi, I’ve designed my own header and used the Custom Header Image editor part to upload it. Howeve, I am haivng two problems with it.
    1) When I open my page I still see the original plain wordpress header.
    2) I can’t removed the wordpress header and tagline (another wordpress blog) type from my own header, even though I have selected ‘hide text’ in the editor.
    Any help/thoughts would be welcomed with open arms.
