Header Photo

I have the Fictive theme and cannot manage to keep my header photo on my site. I have chosen the one given by the theme and then click “saved” but once I leave the page or site the image is gone. Why is it not staying? I have tried numerous times.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s very strange. I was also able to reproduce this behavior, so I’ll mark this thread for staff assistance.

Dear HE: Here’s the process I followed.

One one of my test blogs: https://mec2test.wordpress.com is using the fictive theme. Before this test it was using the default header without a problem. I changed it to the horrible spider photo you see now for the purpose of this test. When I went to change it back to the default, I deleted the horrible spider, clicked the “suggested” header, which changed it in the preview mode, clicked save and then the horrible spider was back. Note when I went back in to change it again, I no longer had the option of deleting the spider, but I could “re-choose” the suggested header. Doing so seemed to work in the preview but then went back to the spider after clicking save.

I did the test in the latest version of Chrome running on the latest version of OSX Maverick (at least as of 9/6/14).

@tessaehasson actually if you do this through the dashboard, rather than the customizer it works. Go to appearance>header on your dashboard and scroll down to “reset” image. Click save and you should get the original header back.

Let me know if that works for you!

HE–My sense is it’s still broken in the customizer which should probably be addressed. I’ll also set my test site back to broken so you can see the behavior for yourself.

Actually, now it seems to work fine. @ tessaehasson could you try again? I’m going to remove the modlook tag until I hear back from you. Let me know if it’s still broken for you.

Sorry about the crazy # of posts. It’s back to being broken on my test site, so maybe it’s a sometimes problem? Anyway, if someone on staff could take a look that would be good.

Thank you for trying to figure this out for me! I actually did go through the dashboard originally (as opposed to the customizer). I tried to use the “reset” image button but I actually didn’t see one. Shucks! It’s driving me crazy. I’ll keep clicking around to see if I can figure it out and if I do I’ll let you know what I did in case this comes up for anyone else. Grrrr!

    Hi there,

Sorry for the trouble! Our team is investigating a similar issue, and I let them know about this issue so they can also look into the problem you’re running into.

Just to confirm, are you trying to go back to using the Fictive theme’s default header image? If you don’t mind, I can try changing that back for you to see if I can get the default header image to stick.

    Hi rachelmcr,

Yes, I would like to go back to using the fictive default header image. I was able to get a personal photo to stay but I prefer the one they have provided in the meantime. Thank you for looking into it for me!

    Hi Tessa,

I’ll be taking over this ticket Rachel. I just wanted to confirm that you want your header image to look like this:

    Screen Shot

If that is the case, I can try doing that for you. Just in case when you go to Appearance > Header in your Dashboard and click Restore Original Header Image as seen here:

    Screen Shot

    does it not work?

    Let me know!

I tried restoring the original header as you said but have not been able to get it to stay. The header image you showed me was what I was hoping to use. Thank you for helping!

    Hi there,

I have changed it to the original header image! Let me know if you have any questions with this!
