Header Problem: Contempt

  I’m kinda new to the image resizing tool. I can’t resize my banner to the size I need it to be. Which is 750 x 140 pixels. I’ve tried serveral tools on my computer and still can’t resize the image.

  Help? And sorry, I didn’t bother searching.

  If you have a windows OS then try Microsoft Paint. If that doesn’t suit then note the various other programs listed here http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/08/optimise-your-images/

  As in the search comment. I didn’t know what to search. I wasn’t being a jerk about it but I really didn’t know what to search.

  Download The GIMP (search Google for it) and install it. It’s like photoshop. You can resize an image to a given set of dimensions.

  Once it’s the right size, then upload it to wp.

  And you initially said you didn’t bother searching. That’s different from “I don’t know what to search for.”

  There are many programs which you can use to optimize images.
  Packages such as Photoshop / Paint Shop Pro will do it, but there is no need to spend money on doing this. These are free:
  – Irfanview
  – Picasa
  – GIMP
  – Photofiltre
  – FastStone
  – Pixia

  File type does not meet security guidelines. Try another.

  It says that and i entered the exact image size..

  any suggestions?

  It’s not the size. It’s the type. Save it as a different type, one of the ones on the list beside the Upload box. Only those are permitted.

  Make sure you are saving the image in one of the approved formats such as .jpg or .gif. jpg is best for photos while gif is best for graphics.

  Any preferences on the optimize programs? – (Irfanview – Picasa- GIMP- Photofiltre- FastStone- Pixia)
  Do any of them contain bugs, viruses, spyware, etc.?
