Header size for profile theme

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am using the Profile Premium theme. When uploading a header it says it is recommended that it is 1200 px by 600 px.

    That is the size I am using but it is still asking me to crop. Can you please provide me with the actual dimensions for this theme so that my header will fit.

    Thanks

    Hi there!

    You are correct about the header size. It is 1200 x 600 px. I am wondering if you are being asked to crop because the header will appear two different ways:

    Home page is full size, if you’re using the Home template:
    http://profiledemo.wordpress.com/

    Other pages will display a cropped version of the photo, as seen here:
    http://profiledemo.wordpress.com/contact/

    Could it be that this is what you’re running into?

    If not, please send me a link to the image you’re trying to load as your header and I’ll take a peek.

    I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

    I think that is the issue @thatrobyn.

    I will work on it and make sure that it is all good to go. Thank you for your help!

    Ok, great. Along the road, if you need a hand, drop me a note and I can jump in :)

    All the best to you!

    I’m back…haha

    I resized my header to the 1200×600 px and it is not showing the full header image. And then it further crops when a separate page opens.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Hey there!

    I have an idea :)

    I took a look at the theme’s code. It seems as if the homepage has a code that is cropping your image to 420 pixels high. So, you have a decision to make. You can either crop your image accordingly, OR I could give you some CSS code that will make the space for your header size 600 px as listed in the specifications.

    If you’d like to give the section option a try, click Appearance → Customize in your site’s Dashboard. Then, click CSS in your right-hand menu. In the CSS Revisions box, please paste the following underneath all existing text:

    .home-header {
    min-height: 600px;
    }

    Then Save your changes.

    Whatever option you like better should work out great.

    Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

    I used the CSS Code and it worked great! Thank you so much for the help!

    I have another question now…
    I want to delete my site title because my header has it included now. But when I do this my menu bar is in the way. Is there a way that I can move the menu bar lower?

    Thanks again for all your help!

    Hi there!

    Terrific. So glad that CSS worked well for you :)

    Instead of deleting your title from the site entirely, I’m going to give you some more code to hide the site title’s visibility:

    .wf-active #header .site-title a {
    visibility: hidden;
    }

    If you need to lower your menu:

    .wf-active #navigation {
    margin-top: 50px;
    }

    You can add that code to the existing CSS code revisions at Customize → CSS in your Dashboard.

    Save your changes and let me know how it works out. Thank you again!

    Morning Robyn,

    It has worked, thank you again!

    With that I have another question. Is there a way to make my header visible properly on iPad & mobile? At this point it is only showing a portion.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there!

    Well, the theme is setup to display only a portion of the header in mobile. However, there are some settings you can adjust if you want to see if you like the appearance better.

    To do this, click on the link below:

    https://kdcinyyc.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=mobile-options

    Then, select Yes where you see, “Enable mobile theme.”

    Click Update.

    After doing this, you will now see several options about how you may adjust the way your site appears on mobile devices. Make some configuration changes and see if things look better to you.

    Thanks very much!
