Header text appearing when I change colors. What the heck is going on?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Ok, so today when I tried changing the color of my links via the customization suite, the header title (which I have disabled) re-enables and messes up the margin of my custom header image (which I changed in the CSS). Its happening whenever I change any of the color options and I have no idea what is going on. The two seem totally unrelated. I tried removing all of my custom CSS text and then selecting the color, but it still happens. Did I inadvertently change something? It isn’t that big of a deal because I can just change the colors through CSS, but that is way more tedious than just visually selecting them with the Customization Suite. Any thoughts? BTW, I’m using the “suits” theme if that helps at all. Thanks guys.

    Hi there, where did you hide the header text at? Have you tried going to Appearance > Header in your dashboard and hiding it there (at the bottom) and then saving?

    It doesn’t appear that I have that option under “appearances” in my dashboard. Are you possible referring to something else?

    I just tried the following in my test site on Suits:

    1. Add header image (Customize > Header)
    2. Turn off title text display (Customize > Site Title)
    3. Choose new link color (Customize > Colors)
    4. Site title and tagline reappear.

    I’m researching this and will file a bug report if it has not yet been filed, but in the meantime, after setting your link color and saving, go back to Customize > Site Title and turn off the text again and save again. This worked on my test site.

    @melodilish, I’ve reported this to the developers and will post back here once it is fixed. In the meantime, you will have to change the Header Text visibility back to hidden after you make color changes.

    As an alternative, if you are making a lot of color changes, you can use the following CSS to hide the title and description:

    .site-title, .site-description {
    	display: none;
    }

    @melodilish, the issue with color changes setting the header text back to visible has been fixed. Please let us know if you have additional questions or problems.
