Header/Banner conflict
-
I’ve been trying to find answers but nothing seems to be working haha
Basically, I’ve been using the Blink theme but have modified space distribution, widths/heights and colours. Thing is, I know that the static theme header dimensions are 690x115px but I have modified the whole theme around a 1000x300px banner.
I can’t have access to the .php files that determine header size because I’m using the blog version of wordpress.. is there anything I can do within the CSS coding to either mask the current dimensions and have my own banner overlayed on top of the header?
My blog is ottn.wordpress.com and you’ll notice that the banner I have loaded up is cropped because the header size is way too small. I know the Twenty Eleven theme has larger header dimensions but I’ve modified Blink so much at this point that I REALLY don’t want to start over with a new theme. Plus, Twenty Eleven has way too much coding to go through.
Thank you!

I do not help with CSS editing only one Volunteer does. However, there is Staff support for the custom design upgrade. The theme you are using is called Bliss not Blink. You have removed the footer link attributions. This is not allowed and that’s clearly stated in the custom design documentation. Please restore those footer links. If you do wish to wait for Volunteer help you can contact Staff > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

The theme used is Blix, and the links are not removed. If you hover over the links they light up and you can access the theme website/designer.
Thanks for the link.

Once you change the width of a theme, or the heigh and/or width of the header, you have to uploade your image directly to you media library, bet the URL of that image and then put it into the appropriate place in the CSS directly instead of using the header uploader. The header uploader will always want to crop to the original dimensions.

Oh, and for anyone that has this problem again, you’re going to want to add..
background-image:url(‘your photo link’);
to the header section in your CSS code
Cheers

May I remove the ‘Blog at WordPress.com’ credit in my site’s footer?
Although the Custom Design Upgrade certainly grants you the capability to hide the credit from your site’s footer, you are not permitted to do so. Even our VIP bloggers are required to maintain the credit. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions -
