Headers, sizing problem

@katkmeanders – If you still have limited options for photo editing software, there’s a free online editor and it will allow you to resize photos to your specifications, as long as you’ve unchecked the proportion box. It’s at:

I’ve played with it and it seems to work well.

Nice headers KatK, and I like your holiday avatar as well.

What’s actually needed is a header image that’s larger than what is needed so that it can be cropped instead of resized, which if the “proportion” box is unchecked will distort the image in one dimension unless the image is proportionally correct to begin with.

Sadly it can be quite a job and can also involve changing the resolution and then resampling the image to get it as close as possible to what you want on the lesser of the two dimensions and then cropping to the size you want.

With Photoshop, I can actually define the size of the crop box and then play with resolution and such to get it as close as possible and then do the crop. Of course photoshop is big bucks and has quite a learning curve to get the most out of it.

Aieee! (heh) No, no, don’t make me have to crop the image! At least, not the Misty Look template! Ack! Just make it the correct size for download, that is the best option, and the path of least resistance too! *wink*

ellaella, thank you! I made an account, and when the whimsy strikes me to make more custom headers I’ll try it. *smile*
