Headings are not working

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, both in the old as in the new editor, whenever I want to use a heading it shows them all the same. Heading 1, 2 etc. It used to be that all headings had different sizes. How can I fix this or is this at the wordpress end of things?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

The editor tries to show the headings similar to how they’ll appear when the post is published in the Twenty Eleven theme your site is using. You can see what those headings are meant to look like in the Twenty Eleven demo here:

    http://twentyelevendemo.wordpress.com/html-elements/

Not all the headings look different in this theme, so you won’t see an entirely different look when you choose different headings in the editor. (The editor also doesn’t perfectly mimic the theme’s design, so a heading may look bold in the editor even if the theme doesn’t make it bold when it’s published.)

I’d recommend using the Preview in the editor to see exactly what your post will look like before you publish it — that’s the best way to get an accurate view of the published post. Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Thanks for the reply. On another wordpress site (a selfhosted .org) I use the Adamos theme and there these headings are displayed as I am used too (h1 huge, h2 a bit smaller etc) Do I need to switch to another theme you say to have headings function in a “normal” way or can this be bypassed using an offline blogtool like windows live writer or word?) I like my theme but I like having a nice looking entry more ;)
to see what I am talking about check out http://www.wolfdenmedia.nl it’s in Dutch but that shuldn’t matter in this I guess

    Hello there!

The h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, and h6 appear to be set up according the theme developer’s specifications. It is built into the stylesheet for the theme.

If you want these to be different, you can edit the CSS code (we can help), if you have the Custom Design feature that comes with the Premium Upgrade, as seen here:

    WordPress.com Premium [Redirects to Plans]

If you decide not to upgrade, there are lots of themes that do have more differentiation between header sizes. For instance, Twenty Twelve.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

Okie doke. If I can help you find another theme, I’m more than happy to help. Just let me know what you’re looking for style-wise and I can send some examples. Or, peruse at http://theme.wordpress.com/

    Good luck!
