Hi there,
In order to do this you will need to edit CSS which requires WordPress.com Premium as it includes the Custom Design upgrade.
Take a look at the upgrade and see if it would be right for you. It includes a free custom domian, No ads, VideoPress, 10 GB of space, and Custom Design.
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

Thank you for the information. I’ve activated the Premium upgrade. Are you able to provide the CSS edits?

Sure! Please go to Appearance > Customize > CSS and add the following:
.page-id-1 .site-branding, .page-id-2 .site-branding, .page-id-6 .site-branding, .page-id-8 .site-branding, .page-id-10 .site-branding, .page-id-12 .site-branding, .page-id-14 .site-branding, .page-id-24 .site-branding { display: none; }Let me know if you have any questions with this!

I’m sorry to be a bother…but I think adding this code created a new page called “Home.” I think I should have been more specific about where I wanted to the header to be: on the “About” page. I don’t want a page called “Home.”
So sorry, I’ve tried to see how to fix this in the CSS, but I’m terribly unsure. I’d greatly appreciate an indication of where I’ve gone wrong. Thanks again for all of your help.

The code didn’t create a page. It only made the header disappear on certain pages.
If you want the header on the About page, change the code to this:
.page-id-2 .site-branding, .page-id-6 .site-branding, .page-id-8 .site-branding, .page-id-10 .site-branding, .page-id-12 .site-branding, .page-id-14 .site-branding, .page-id-24 .site-branding { display: none; }Cheers!
