Heavy calculations slow down the website

I’m developing a live scoring system. I started making al lot of calculations on the live page, but found out quite quickly that this slowed down the -probably- most-viewed page of the whole website. So I moved all the calculations to a page “page-calculator”. This page inserts all the results into the DB and the Live Page reads them from the DB.

Question: How can I run page-calculator every n seconds to perform the calculations and store them in the DB again?

I run my website on an online webhost, not on a local server.

I’ve got no knowledge of cron jobs, exec etc. I’ve been looking for hours now. Appreciate any help, thanks!

  • I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble. However, http://windmeetfreestyletour.com/ is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, which we really can’t help with.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org has complete documentation and support sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at http://codex.wordpress.org/ and http://wordpress.org/support/
