Heelp with Media Manager please
-
I have just uploaded a new photo to a similar group on a page on my website.
Wishing to “Re-order” where my new photo appears in the Slideshow I now find that I can’t access the previously set up “Gallery” for that Page as I used to.
How can I do this please. -
First, edit the page that the gallery is on. Within the editor, you’ll see a large blue rectangle with a camera in it.
Clicking this rectangle will display two icons in the top-left corner. One is obviously a delete icon, the other is what you need to click to edit the gallery.

Thanks for your response Macmanx,
Unfortunately I didn’t describe my problem correctly and this is, I hope, a better description .
I previously uploaded all my Photos (individually) – to be placed in various groupings – on their respective Pages. Newer Photos being placed within these groups wherever appropriate.
As I wished to use separate lines of Text between these Photos, from time to time, I decided not to use “Gallery”.
However I used the [slideshow] shortcode at bottom of each page.I positioned my Photos to appear, in the order I wanted them to appear within the Slideshow, from the Edit Page.
After clicking on Edit Image and I clicked on Media Library which brought up Thumbnails of all the Photos related to that Page.
Then I could Drag and Drop my Newly Uploaded Photos into the order I wanted them to be seen before updating and Inserting in to Slideshow.
Now I can’t seem to do this.My Slideshow still works but newly uploaded Photos get placed at either the beginning or the end rather than in their proper place within their related group.
This can be seen on the Staff Events – Club page where my latest uploaded photo appears – within a Red Border, sixth place down the page – but not in the correct place in the Slideshow. -
Ok, so the main problem is that you’re unable to drag-and-drop the photos in order?
If so, first please make sure that your browser is up to date by visiting http://whatbrowser.org/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

Hello Macmanx – There still appears to be some misunderstanding about my problem.
Prior to arrival of the New “Media Manager” – I uploaded Photos and placed them (Individually) – within appropriate groups – on their respective Pages. – (I did not use “Gallery”).
I then added the [slideshow] shortcode so that my “Slideshow” – showing my Photos in “Descending Order” would appear at the bottom of the Pages.
New Photos would be added to their appropriate places on their respective Page (as above) and then – Clicking on to edit a Photo I was able to access (“Media Library”) – listing (All the Photos on that Page).
There – I could then “Drag and Drop” to “Re-Order” them as I wished.
After “Updating” – my Photos, including the Newly Uploaded ones – would appear in my “Slideshow” in the selected order.Since the New “Media Manager” appeared – my “Newer Photos” now appear at the Beginning of the “Slideshow” – (Out of Order) and I cannot “Re-Order” my Photos – without using “Galleries” on my Pages.
I want to retain the Ordering of Photos in my Pre-existing Slideshow and maintain it when I upload New ones.
Is this no longer possible or do I have to revert to using Galleries to obtain this facility – which I would prefer Not to Do.
-
Oh, I see what you mean, sorry about that. You do have to essentially use a gallery now, and you can drag-and-drop photos in order within that interface. But, off to the right when working with the gallery, you can choose “Slideshow” from the Gallery type drop-down menu.

I am very disappointed Macmanx by your reply above “You do have to essentially use a gallery now” – etc.
I am surprised that WordPress , with all the professional skills and experience available within the Team, could not retain – or find a Workaround – to maintain the facilities that I need and have used for over 12 Months.
I Renewed Registration/Mapping etc only last month – March – but have only discovered the ramifications of the latest WordPress Version Upgrade. If this is true then –
1) – Can I still place Individual Photos ( Separately ) on the Page.
2) – Can I still “click on an individual Photo” ( even within a Gallery ) to Enlarge it for closer detail.
3) – Can I still insert blocks of Text between “Multiple Galleries”.
4) – If using “Multiple Galleries, how does this affect Slideshow Ordering – of ( All Photos on Page ).
5) – If using a combination of Singly Placed Photos and Galleries how does this affect Slideshow Ordering – of ( all Photos on Page )
6) – Can I “position the Slideshow” where I want it to appear using [slideshow] short-code or will it’s position always be fixed at Top of Page. Please have a look at my Site http:// aturnofthekey to see what it’s Described Function is and how the Pages work – especially “Place and People” – 3 Newly uploaded Photos, with Red Borders – which display in the Slideshow “Out of Order” no matter what I do.
I look forward to your further Comments.

1. Of course, following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/
2. Yes, just choose link to “Media File” when inserting.
3. Yes, insert a gallery, type text, insert another gallery. You can see details and that very thing in action at http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/
4. Each slideshow is ordered individually. Order as desired and insert. http://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshows/
5. It doesn’t, see above.
6. Yes, see http://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshows/
As for the one slideshow, if you inset it as a gallery with the slideshow type as detailed in http://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshows/ you’ll be able to manually include and order the photos as desired.

O k thanks for that. I need to check out your links and try to get my head around all that new info – then try a Test Page.
If everything works out o k this will mean altering every page on my site (20) and well over 600 Photos – A Big Ask ! ! !I hope ” The Team ” do not make any more similar changes for a While ! !
-
You shouldn’t need to alter existing things at all, just use the new things for new galleries and slideshows.
-
Hmmm I’m not at all sure of that.
The Look and Feel of my Pages for Viewers will then be a Mish-Mash of old and new and not very intuitive for them to navigate.
I think that My Donors particularly – who have supplied the majority of the material on the Site – will not to be happy with that. -
