Height of the page shortened while changing from 1 column to 2 column

  Hi
  When I tried changing my web page to two column from one column the height of the page got shortened and the content bled into the earlier posting below. Could you show me how to maintain or increase the height of the web page? Thanks

  I want to make the youtube video frame much smaller than what I have in my website sanjeebsapkota.wordpress.com, but I could not do no matter what html code I tried.
