Hi there. This might be a silly question however I am unsure how to get the theme I like on WordPress onto my actual domain. It seems that the theme is being added to my wordpress.com site?

Themes in the WordPress.com Theme Showcase are meant for WordPress.com sites. If you want to install a theme on your self-hosted WordPress site follow this guide.
However, you can download some themes from the WordPress.com Theme Showcase by clicking on the download link on the right sidebar of the theme’s page and upload them to your self-hosted WordPress site.If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

I guess what I don’t understand the difference between is wordpress.com and my actual domain. I am using wordpress.com, particularly I am looking at the Sela Theme. I didn’t see a download link so it must not be a supported theme that is downloadable. I followed the link you provided however it took me to wordpress.org? Am I able to purchase this theme? Thank you for your help it is greatly appreciated.

You’re a little bit confused. Can you give me your domain name in order to better help you?
-
I think I figured it out. I just have to go premium on WordPress.com to add my domain name :)

Thank you again for your help. I do have another question for you: If I purchase a premium wordpress plan and map my domain to it, am I able to also map an additional domain in the future and customize it with the same wordpress account?
-
You can map as many additional domains to the same site as you would like, but you have to pay for additional mapping upgrades separately.
If you want to register or map a domain to another site under the same account you have to purchase an additional plan because each plan is per site not per account.
