I currently have the free wordpress plan and my husband registered my website modernredhead.com with Namecheap instead of doing it from wordpress. I am new to this and don’t quit understand how to use modernredhead.com on wordpress instead of modernredhead.wordpress.com. How do I change my domain name to here? I don’t have a hosting site and would like it to be with you. Please let me know, I am so very confused.

You already have modernredhead.com with Namecheap. In order to use modernredhead.com on WordPress.com you need to transfer the domain to WordPress.com, your account will require a plan upgrade. Each plan comes with a credit for your domain, so there’s not an additional fee there.
Check out the plans at https://wordpress.com/pricing/ and add one to your account. Then you can proceed with the domain transfer.
You can transfer your domain from google.com to WordPress.com using “Transferring a domain to WordPress.com” in Domain page.
Your domain registration and billing will be moved from your current domain provider to WordPress.com. That means in future you’ll manage all aspects of your domain here, including renewal, cancellation, or a future transfer.

How do I change my domain name to here?
To use your custom domain (modernredhead.com) over at wordpress.com there are two ways
1. Transfer an existing domain (one you already own) to WordPress.com2. Map an existing domain (one you already own)
You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain. Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain, or either transfer or map one you already own.
I would suggest you to transfer the domain to wordpress.com after upgrading to any paid plan as after that your hosting and doamin will be under one roof and you don’t to need upgrade DNS records manually at another domain provider

Do please note that a WordPressdotcom website can only be restored within the first 30 days after deletion. After that, the deletion cannot be reversed.
If it was less than 30 days ago, you can also reply to the email you received from WordPressdotcom following the site deletion.
