    Hello all,

When it comes to the plugin, I am looking to use quite a few, Need to use one to setup a database which i have already looked at, BUT I need a couple of plugins to use for the company for Emplotees to request holidays, shift schedueling and a login page so they can access the database that i am going to create so they can actually work.

Is this possible with WordPress plugins, and if so could you please let me know which ones.

    Thanks alot :D

Blogger installed plugins and third party or custom themes cannot be used on WordPress.COM hosted sites unless you have a Business Plan. We have 4 different plans: free, personal, premium and business. All hosting is free regardless of which plan you choose. You can view all wordpress.com plan features here https://wordpress.com/pricing/

All support docs are at https://en.support.wordpress.com/

Also note that if you upgrade to a Business plan and install plugins, and then downgrade to a lower plan, the plugins and all features unique to the Business plan will no longer be available for your use.

Thanks for the reply, I noticed that you started with “Blogger installed plugins and third party or custom themes cannot be used on WordPress.COM hosted sites unless you have a Business Plan.”

That is the plan, to take out the business package, but before i do i need to know that the items i need are accessible to me and by items, i mean the plugins for Customer database which can be accessed by employees that have to login (through another plugin hopefully) as well as using some sort of scheduling plugin which i believe is called “Shift Controller”

Because basically the plan is that we have 1 external website for the public to access for various reasons and an internal website that employees can access after they have logged in on it and can carry out their tasks as part of their day to day work.

I have started to play around with creating the website using wordpress and i like it as its very user friendly, but my main idea is that the “Internal” website will have a front page with like company news ect on it and their be a button to click like “Employee Login” which i have made which will then send them to another page to login which can also be tracked for scheduling purposes and make sure staff get paid correctly for the working hours they do, and kept on a separate spreadsheet if possible in case any queries come back if paid incorrectly or turned up late for work and when challenged about it they deny it but i can prove they was late, do you see where i am coming from? and once they are logged in it will then take them to the database area where they can do what ever work needs doing, such as inputting new data, export specific data for various reasons, save their work and logoff at the end of their working day.

This is our main goal and if anybody knows the names of these plugins, PLEASE let me know what they are called so i can configure it all to my companies specification

Also on a side note, with the business plan, with the website address currently being for example: http://www.iamnewtothis.WORDPRESS.com <— When i buy the business package, will the .wordpress part of the website URL be removed or not? i mean, i don’t know if it will be a problem, I would just like to know if I have the option to remove it.

Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Hi there,

There are tens of thousands of WordPress plugins available online, both in wordpress.org/plugins, and elsewhere on the web. We cannot possibly test every single plugin for compatibility with WordPress.com, so I cannot tell you whether specific plugins you want to use will work here.

For the most part, as long as a plugin doesn’t have a known conflict with Jetpack, and doesn’t try to directly alter the site’s database or caching, it should work here, but the only way to know is to install the plugin and try to use it.

If you’re asking for advice on specific plugins to use, we can’t help with that here. This forum is for free WordPress.com sites that cannot use plugins, and the majority of volunteers here have no experience with the different plugins that are available in the WordPress ecosystem. I suggest you search the WordPress.org plugin directory for plugins that will do what you want, and you can also ask in the forums on that site, as the users there will be better able to offer you advice and suggestions regarding specific plugins.
