  I feel like I’m all thumbs mentally trying to start my first Blog. I have activated password protect on my Free Blog and I can’t seem to remove it. It appears that I would have to give everyone a password for them to access my Blog. Plus the word ‘Private’ in big bold letters now adorns my post. I don’t want to change the password. I want to eliminate it from my (Now) Private Blog. When I start inviting people to view what I have writ it should be easy for them to do so. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

  Hey there,

  If you want to remove the password protection from your blog posts, you will have to make the page visibilty as ‘Public’ in the page editor. To do so, you have to go to the page editor, click on the Status & visibility module in the left sidebar to view the page’s Visibility settings. You can set the visibility to public, private, or password protected

  I tried all this several times. The drop down menu doesn’t give me the option to un-password protect or to go back to public. It just isn’t there. The drop down menu under “Password Protected” I only have “Site Members”, “Admins. and Editors”, and “Password Protected”. When I select “Site Members” I get 2 choices. “Stick to the front page” and “Pending Review”. When I select “Admins. and Editors” I’m given a window that says I can choose to “Privately post my post but no one except Admins and Editors would see it.” When I select “Pricvate” I am given a chance to change my Password/ That’s it. I don’t see how to get it to let me go public and get rid of the passwords. And now I selected private for Admins and Editors, thinking that other choices would might become available but they didn’t. And now I can’t un-private the post from Admins and Editors. I may have to start over.
