  Hello,

  I was wondering if we could bring back the Hello, Dolly plugin to wordpress.com sites? Just because I used to have rotating quotes and song lyrics on a self-hosted WordPress site, and they made me happy :P And though it was a simple and not-functionally-useful script, I was sad to see it go when I transitioned to a wordpress.com site.

  Or, a plugin/widget that displays rotating/random text or quotes on the blog itself. I have been wondering if we could do this for a long time too.

  Installing plugins isn’t supported here on WordPress.com, they are a feature of self hosted WordPress.org sites. The differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org are explained here:

  WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

  If you have a self hosted site you will be able to install the Hello Dolly plugin.

  Or, a plugin/widget that displays rotating/random text or quotes on the blog itself.

  If you made images for the quotes, you could create a slideshow using the Gallery widget:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/gallery-widget/

  That’s the nearest thing we have to what you want to do.
